Mechel launches 560,000 tn longwall at Southern Kuzbass

MOSCOW, Aug 22 (PRIME) -- Southern Kuzbass, a subsidiary of Russian metals and mining group Mechel, has launched production at a 400 million ruble longwall at the Lenin underground mine with reserves of 560,000 tonnes of coal, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The new longwall should raise the mine’s capacity and production of coking coal. Monthly loading of working face will stand at 70,000–80,000 tonnes, the company said quoting Igor Khafizov, CEO of Mechel Mining.
